John C. Lane - Founder
Mr. Lane founded the firm in 1997, and has over 40 years of experience in various fields of insurance defense and coverage, construction, admiralty and maritime, trucking, environment defense, and commercial litigation. He also has extensive trial and appellate experience in a wide range of cases in all state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey.
Practice and Experience:
Mr. Lane earned his undergraduate degree at Virginia Military Institute and his J.D. at Washington & Lee School of Law. He limits his practice to Transportation, Construction, General Insurance, and Complex Commercial Law and Litigation. Mr. Lane’s legal expertise carries through in all areas of transportation law and litigation, including admiralty and maritime law, and motor carrier law and litigation, for more than 40 years, representing shipowners, non-vessel owning common carriers (NVOCCs) stevedoring companies, intermodal equipment providers, motor carriers, transportation brokers, freight forwarders, and their insurers. This practice has included personal injury and death, cargo loss and damage claims, ship collisions, groundings, environmental spills, and complex commercial litigation, in all federal and state courts, and before federal agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Mr. Lane is a frequent contributor to transportation publications and speaks regularly at annual meetings of transportation associations.
He also represents Architects, Engineers, and Contractors in a variety of construction and construction-related claims, including complex and high-exposure claims, for more than twenty years. These include bodily injury and death claims, building collapses, delay claims, design deficiency and other claims, against Architects, and against Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Environmental Engineers, as well as defense of construction sureties.
Included throughout Mr. Lane’s practice is the representation of insurers and their insureds in general insurance claims and litigation, including professional and product liability claims, general liability, and the representation of insurers in complex coverage and reinsurance litigation.
Peter C. Bobchin
Mr. Bobchin joined the firm in 2000 becoming a Partner in 2002. He has over 20 years of experience in various fields of civil litigation, and has extensive trial experience.
Practice and Experience:
Mr. Bobchin earned his undergraduate degree at Pace University and his J.D. at Ohio Northern University, Pettitt College of Law. Mr. Bobchin has handled a variety of high exposure cases, and has defended and prosecuted matters involving a number of high profile litigants. practice areas include Transportation, Professional Liability, Construction Law, Premises liability, Products liability, Coverage Litigation and Appellate Practice. He has represented motor carriers, large and small construction firms, municipalities and housing authorities, property managers, and conservation and sportsman organizations. Mr. Bobchin has handled a variety of high exposure cases, and has defended and prosecuted matters involving a number of high profile litigants.
During the first 10 years of his career Mr. Bobchin concentrated his practice in the New York State Courts beginning his career in a plaintiff's practice under the tutelage of the late Harry H. Lipsig. The skills and insights he developed during those years provided him with a unique prospective in litigating cases and negotiating settlements. After several years in a plaintiff's practice, Mr. Bobchin began concentrating his career on the defense side of civil litigation.
Mr. Bobchin has litigated matters in both the State and Federal Courts of New York and New Jersey, and before the New York Court of Claims. He has tried cases in both States and has handled appeals before the New York and New Jersey Appellate Divisions, and the New Jersey Supreme Court.
In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Bobchin has also handled matters in a variety of Alternative Dispute Resolution formats, including Arbitration and Mediation, and has appeared before a variety of Municipal Courts.
Jennifer L. Enberg
Jennifer received her B.S. degree in Business Administration from Montclair State University, and also holds a Paralegal Certificate from Montclair State’s Paralegal Studies Program, an American Bar Association-approved program of study. Before joining the firm in 1998, Jennifer worked in sales and transportation for a New Jersey-based manufacturer, and has a strong grounding in transportation legal affairs.
Jennifer has continued her paraprofessional education in areas of medical-legal issues and commercial and transportation litigation, and is instrumental in obtaining evidence by subpoena and other means, management of file documents and logs, and medical records, and preparation of litigation time lines, trial notebooks and trial exhibits.
Jennifer and husband, Bryan, serve as officers with New Jersey Search and Rescue, a volunteer wilderness search and rescue team founded in 1950, serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New York, and New Jersey, and are members of NJSAR's Mountain Rescue Unit, a member of the Mountain Rescue Association. The group drills several times a month, and Jennifer and Bryan are frequently called out for searches for missing or injured hikers, hunters and children, and individuals with dementia. When not in the woods, Jennifer serves as the soloist for the Mountain Resuce Association Honor Guard and serves with the choir and worship team at the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta.
