Mr. Lane founded the firm in 1997, and has over 30 years of
experience in various fields of insurance defense and coverage,
construction, admiralty and maritime, trucking, environment defense, and
commercial litigation. He also has extensive trial and appellate
experience in a wide range of cases in all state and federal courts in
New York and New Jersey.
Practice and Experience:
Mr. Lane limits his practice to Transportation, Construction,
General Insurance, and Complex Commercial Law and Litigation.
Mr. Lane’s legal expertise carries through in all areas of transportation
law and litigation, including admiralty and maritime law, and motor
carrier law and litigation, for more than thirty years, representing shipowners, non-vessel owning common carriers (NVOCCs) stevedoring
companies, intermodal equipment providers, motor carriers,
transportation brokers, freight forwarders, and their insurers. This
practice has included personal injury and death, cargo loss and
damage claims, ship collisions, groundings, environmental spills,
and complex commercial litigation, in all federal and state courts,
and before federal agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard, Federal
Aviation Administration, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration. Mr. Lane is a frequent contributor to transportation
publications and speaks regularly at annual meetings of
transportation associations.
He also represents Architects, Engineers, and Contractors in a variety of
construction and construction-related claims, including complex and
high-exposure claims, for more than twenty years. These include
bodily injury and death claims, building collapses, delay claims,
design deficiency and other claims, against Architects, and against
Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Environmental
Engineers, as well as defense of construction sureties. Mr. Lane has
worked with DPIC, and XLDP, on a regular and ongoing basis, since
1984, handling very serious matters on behalf of their insureds, in
New York and New Jersey. He has been recognized for outstanding work
by DPIC.
Included throughout Mr. Lane’s practice is the representation
of insurers and their insureds in general insurance claims and

general liability, and the representation of insurers in complex
